The Weekend Cometh....

For those of you that don't know....I use the Weight Watchers Program to help cultivate my healthy lifestyle (notice I didn't say the "D" word) However, I don't count "Points". A few years ago WW began a program called Core (now it's called Simply Filling, whatever). This is a program that digs into the root of healthy eating and teaches us how to eat healthier, whole foods and to learn what the meaning of "satisfied" really feels like. Some may think it's restrictive, others may think it has too many rules....but I was being obsessed with points and all that comes with it so when I read about this program I tried it and it has been very successful on my journey....you can read more about it on the WW web site if you want.

But let's talk about the weekend.

Monday through Friday, I am THE poster child for the program. I have a lunch box packed with everything you can imagine as being healthy. I purchased nice little containers so that I can be 'green' and not use anything disposable if I can help it. There's a cabinet in my house with containers that one must sometimes wear a helmet when opening to avoid being hit. Yes, as I had blogged earlier in the week I am a planner and fully prepared for the week.

The weekend has always been a challenge for me. Historically I have always looked at the weekend as my time off on many levels....no work, sleep later, get dressed as I felt the need to....eat as I please. This has been my M.O. for years and for years I have always landed on Monday morning thinking..."god I hope I didn't overdo it and pay for it on the scale".

Lately, I have been working on being more prepared so i can 'be the program' through the weekend as well as the week. The past two weekends I have implemented this mentality.....and I have lost almost another 6 pounds (yes, I said SIX) in those two weeks.

This weekend.....we are in this together. My long run (5 miles this week by plan) is on Saturday morning, so that sets the stage for the weekend.

So folks, stow your bags, put your seats in the upright position....it may be a bumpy landing but I think we can make it another......
