Reader Beware: Yucky Chick Stuff Ahead
Two months ago today (Feb 23) - I had surgery. For those that like clinical terms, I had reduction mammoplasty - for everyone else - I had a breast reduction.
There, I said it and it's out there. If you don't want to hear any more about it, stop reading and move on. ...if you are still with me....that's great.
Having lost 70 lbs, there were certain parts of my body that didn't re-adjust to this and were still causing me issue/pain and discomfort. When I followed my doctor's orders and worked to change my life and improve my health....never did I think that running would become my vehicle to get me there.
When I took up running....well, certain part of my body became a problem.
Wearing two sports bras just isn't practical, but at a 38DDD what else am I going to do? By the way, sports bras are expensive on a regular basis....specialty ones (for larger breast sizes) are twice as expensive and you still look like you have 'log boob' (a fellow runner said that once and I always laugh when I think about it). Also....hello? I am running....the hardest impact I can could possible bring to my body f...with these?????? No thanks.....I had enough.
During my physical this January, my doctor overwhelmingly approved my referral to see a surgeon about the surgery. My surgeon couldn't approve me fast enough and even my health insurance approved my surgery within 24 hours of my submittal.
So at the end of February I went through a 5 1/2 hour operation and have never been happier. They removed over 5 lbs of excess skin that just didn't 'bounce back' (no pun intended) when I lost the weight. They did a little reconstruction and I walked out of the hospital the next day a 38 ????? Only time would tell after my recovery and the healing began.
I am a 38B. Oh yeah.....that's right.....38B.
I have not been a 38B since birth :)
My recovery was interesting. I felt great...but I had to start all over again...walking first. Walking, really? Yes. Walking didn't do it for me....so the minute my doctor told me I could run (3 weeks later) I got back at it....easy at first...but pretty soon I brought it...and haven't looked back since.
I have a 5 mile run planned for tomorrow, as part of week of my 1/2 marathon training plan.....two months later.
YES.

LMAO @ "Log Boob!" I am familiar! That's the first thing I asked my golf instructor when I started taking swing lessons..."What am I supposed to do with these?" So glad you are happy and recovering nicely.
