Making a Commitment...
Alright folks...I know I've been quiet but I'm still here plugging along.
So a little about me as a runner. For the past few years, I have been a solo runner. I grew to only depend on myself to get in my runs and workouts in general. If I had a workout partner in the past it would be a recipe for failure. Once they cancel, I would think 'ok, I'm not going either" - and that would be that. The only person that I could really depend on to get my ass out the door was me...
Well - I have to tell you that I have been running with a friend of mine for the past few months and it's been a good 'match'. My friend Christy needed some inspiration in order to ready herself for a 5K she wanted to run in November. We started running together and the rest was history.
We just completed a 5-mile run yesterday and had a pretty good time doing it. I have to admit that it's very nice to run with a friend, I didn't know what I was missing before. Also - she doesn't complain....which is nice (those of you that have had experience with complainers can appreciate that)
Also - call it 'growing up' or finally 'committing' to myself - if she cancels or plans change I still get it done one way or the other.
We have our Spring Running Season lined up - we are scheduled to do a few runs and other events over the next few months with the goal of completing half marathon in October, 2011 at Hampton Beach, NH - the 2011 Smuttynose Rockfest Brewer half marathon!
